2020 Meeting Minutes

FODPG Meeting January 21, 2020Enger Park Clubhouse
The Board met on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, 5:30pm, at Enger Park Clubhouse.

The following Board members attended:Dan Baumgartner, President Trish Lilliberg, Executive Committee Sue Harney, Executive Committee Luke Murray

Directors Absent:Tim Lee, Vice President Paul Paczynski, Treasurer Chris Stevens, Pete Howard

President Baumgartner updated members on the 2019 Request for Proposals (RFPs) for Lester Park and Enger Park properties from the information that was announced at the Parks Commission meeting January 8, 2020.  Since the City received no RFPs, they are presently working on Request for Qualifications (RFQs) for the properties.   The RFQs will be posted on the City website when completed.  Members were encouraged to contact their City Councilor and/or the Mayor if nothing is happening in the next month.

The Parks Commission tabled formal action on language for a Public Golf Committee in December.  At the January 8 Parks Commission meeting, they unanimously voted to pass it.  The Public Golf Committee will be a subcommittee of the Parks Commission and must follow the by-laws of the Parks Commission.  It will be comprised of 3 Parks Commissioners and 8 other members, along with City Staff representatives.  The only voting members of this Committee will be the 3 Parks Commissioners. The City will make a press release regarding the application process for this Committee.  When application is released, there will be a link provided on the FODPG website.

There are currently two vacancies on the Parks Commission and members are encouraged to apply.  Information is listed on the City website.

The citizens advisory panel for the Requests for Information (RFIs) for the Operations of the Golf Courses has been changed to have President Baumgartner replace Board member Murray. The next step in the process has not been determined.
Members discussed the golf round numbers this past season and the obvious need for two courses after the winter damage we had year along with the bridge closure near Lester Park.  Both issues impacted the golfing season.

The need for a Strategic Plan and/or Master Plan were discussed and information gathered for the next meeting.  All members are encouraged to reach out to their City Councilors and Parks Commissioners through both attendance at meetings and emails/letters to them.  Our voices need to be heard and faces need to be seen showing our support for Enger Park and Lester Park golf; when you attend a meeting, bring a friend.
Greg Gilbert discussed the idea of a citizens group preparing an RFP for golf management with a Golf Board established to oversee the courses and hire a golf manager.  Further information will be drafted and shared with all members.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 5:30pm at the Enger Clubhouse.
The meeting adjourned at 6:50pm.
